Coffs Harbour Regional Workplace Learning Group Inc.
A Local Community Partnership supporting successful futures for Young People
Coffs Harbour Regional Workplace Learning Group Inc.(CHRWLG), a non-profit organisation, was established in response to
the mandatory work placement requirements of the Higher School Certificate. Year 11 and 12 students, who study specific
Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses as part of the HSC, are required to participate in an industry work placement
which is usually undertaken in a one week block.
CHRWLG liases with schools and industry to organize suitable work placements for students at all local High Schools between
Dorrigo and Woolgoolga.
VET courses provide students with the opportunity to undertake nationally accredited vocational training and gain entry-level
employment skills while still at school.
Students are unpaid during work placement and are covered by School/TAFE insurance.
Work placement provides an opportunity for students to practice and enhance skills learnt at school or TAFE, in a real
workplace environment. Students are able to learn first-hand from people working in the industry. Work placement gives employers
the opportunity to be involved in training future workers by sharing their valuable knowledge and skills.
Host Employers
Additional host employers from the following industry groups, are required to offer work placement opportunities to local
HSC students.
