Experience

Executive Director, Coffs Harbour Education Campus (1995 – 2005).  Mr Grimshaw is presiding member of the NSW TAFE Commission Board, member of the Southern Cross University Council, Chair of the North Coast TAFE Institute Advisory Council, Chair of the Coffs Harbour Technology Park Board, and Chair of the Mid North Coast District Health Board.

Professor Peter Lee

Experience

Professor Peter Lee has had an academic career spanning 30 years, with leadership roles at the University of South Australia, where he was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic), The University of Queensland, Murdoch University and Curtin University of Technology. Prof Lee took up his appointment as Vice Chancellor to Southern Cross University in September 2009.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and a PhD from Monash University.  From 2004 to 2010 he was named in the top 100 most influential engineers by Engineers Australia and was the recipient of the Australian Government Centenary Medal in 2003, the Institution of Engineers Australia, WA Engineering Excellence Award in 1998 and the Shedden Pacific Prize and Medal for Excellence in Chemical Engineering in 1993.

He is the author of four books and 99 refereed journal papers and has won in excess of $4.7 million in competitive research grants for universities.
 
Professor Lee has managed his own consulting company, providing services to government and non-government agencies, including the United Nations Development Organisation.
 
He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering;  Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (UK); a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia; a Graduate Member, Australian Institute of Company Directors; and Chartered Professional Engineer.

Ms Elizabeth McGregor

Experience

16 years experience in educational practice, including curriculum development and evaluative research, in various Pacific and Australian contexts, primarily vocational education and training. 11 years experience in middle/senior leadership and management positions in TAFE NSW. Institute Director with responsibility and accountability for a global budget of $105m and over 2,000 staff. Operational experience in service industries (retail and medical practice) prior to joining TAFE. Member Business and Professional Women’s Association.

Mr Steve McGrath

Experience

Steve McGrath has over 30 years experience in local government, including 18 years as General Manager at Singleton and Young Councils prior to commencing at Coffs Harbour City Council as the General Manager.  Steve spent 2½ years consulting to the public sector, predominately local government, on a range of strategic and operational projects immediately before joining Coffs Harbour City Council.  Steve also served on the NSW and National Boards of Local Government Managers Australia and was the President in NSW between 2004 and 2006 and nationally between 2007 and 2008.

Mr Robert Prater

B.A., Dip.Tert.Ed., M.Ed. (Hons, Class 1) (The University of New England).  Completed Financial Accounting and Management Accounting as part of a Graduate Diploma in Financial Management.

Experience

  • Building up and sustaining a regional continuing education program in a climate of reduced funding.
  • Playing a key role as a regional representative for UNE on the North Coast of NSW
  • Playing a significant role in the establishment of a new university campus at Coffs Harbour.
  • Developing an integrated approach to providing student administration services at a joint educational campus.
  • Planning and implementing the establishment of the South Coast Campuses of the University of Wollongong.
  • Leading the development of a client based approach to Student Administration and the development of associated student management systems.
  • Shaping the strategic direction of a regional campus during a period of rapid growth stimulated by industrial development.

 

Mr Neil Wendt

Experience

Over 16 years experience in Chartered Accounting advising clients on Business Services, tax, audit and accounting issues. Over 13 years in management and leadership roles within the Government sector including TAFE, CSIRO and municipalities. A member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Secretaries.
